General Resort Policies


Reservations, Deposits and cancellations – Throughout year EXCLUDING July and August – A 10% non-refundable deposit is due at the time of booking in order to hold your reservation, with the remaining balance due upon arrival.


Reservations and Deposits – July and August ONLY– For our high-season summer bookings, a 50% deposit is required no later than March 15th and the balance is due by April 30th. Please note that we cannot hold your reservation if we do not receive your deposit on time.


Cancellation Policy

  1. If a booking is cancelled with more than 30 days notice, a 90% refund will be issued.
  2. If a booking is cancelled with 30 days or less notice and the cottage is re-rented, an 85% refund will be issued.
  3. If a booking is cancelled with 30 days or less notice and the cottage is not re-rented, no refund will be issued.

This policy applies to deposits as well as final payments. Refunds may take up to 60 days to process.


Pets– Regretably, pets are not permitted on site from Victoria Day weekend through Canadian Thanksgiving.


Bicycles – Bicycles are not permitted on the grassed areas of the resort.


Children– The Alders is ideally suited to families and children are very welcome.


MealsAll cottages include equipped kitchens. Though meals are not provided, an excellent selection of groceries and other supplies are available in nearby Courtenay or Campbell River.

Currency – Cottage rates are quoted in Canadian Dollars. For a conversion to your home currency, try using this handy online currency converter.


Taxes – 5% GST and 8% Provincial Hotel Tax for a combined tax rate of 13%.


Minimum Stay – During the summer season (July and August — see Summer Season Accommodations section for exact dates), cottages are booked by the week. During the shoulder and winter season, cottages are booked either by the month to long-term guests, or on a short-stay basis with a 2-night minimum stay. However, please inquire, as conditions change and special arrangements can be made.


Payment – We accept payment through Online Banking. Search for “The Alders Beach Resort” and add us as a Payee. Enter your 4 digit customer number found on your invoice. Participating institutions include: RBC, CIBC, BMO, and all BC Credit Unions.

Non-Canadian guests are required to make payments by Visa or Mastercard as this simplifies the currency exchange.

We also accept Canadian-dollar travellers cheques, Canadian-dollar personal cheques drawn on Canadian banks, and Canadian dollar bank drafts.
