Evergreen Estates Ltd is responsible for the effective management of The Alders Beach Resort. The Alders Beach Resort is 21 cottage, beach front resort located in Merville, BC on Vancouver Island. The resort is owned by 15 shareholder families and is managed on a daily basis by onsite managers supported by casual hourly staff. Oversight of the resort is through Board of Directors.
The resort is operated year-round, with all cottages rented on a weekly basis in the summer and on a monthly or weekend basis in the offseason. The resort is also rented for weddings and events in June and September.
This role is responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping for the company using Quickbooks.
Accounts payable for vender and other payments through primarily on-line banking or manual cheques.
Accounts receivable for rental deposits and final payments.
Returns and remittances for: PST, GST, CRA, VISA, WCB etc.
Semi-monthly Payroll for on-site managers (salary + commission) as well as casual hourly staff including annual T4 preparation and ROEs.
Monthly financial statements
Work with the Treasurer on drafting the annual budget as well budgets for major projects etc.
Work with the Treasurer to answer questions from Directors and on-site mangers as necessary.
Provide required information to the organization’s Accountant for year-end (September 30).
You are an experienced bookkeeper and have:
Formal training in bookkeeping and accounting.
A strong understanding of accounting / bookkeeping practices and procedures including. AR/ AP, payroll, GST and PST reporting.
2 years of experience with Quickbooks online and payroll.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, with a focus on excel.
Proficient in both written and spoken English.
Access to computer and printer with scanning capabilities as well as reliable internet.
Hours / Compensation
This is contract role working remotely for approximately 25 hours per month. $26-$32 / hour depending on experience.
