COVID-19 Safety
The Alders Beach Resort is committed to providing a safe environment for guests and staff. We are working to ensure that we have all necessary protocols in place to reduce the risk of a COVID-19 outbreak at The Alders Beach Resort. We have made changes to our policies and operations that reflect the latest recommendations from WorkSafeBC, BC Ministry of Health and the BC Hotel Association.
What To Expect In Your Cottage
Deep Cleaning & Sanitizing
To ensure every cottage is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, there will be a minimum of 3 days between bookings. All cottages will receive a thorough deep cleaning, including steam cleaning the carpets. Special attention will be given to disinfecting high-touch points including doorknobs, light switches, toilets, sinks, faucets, and garbage cans. Our vacuums have HEPA filters to capture microscopic particles including pollen, dust, bacteria and viruses.
Housekeeping services are not available during guests’ stays. Some items may have been removed from the cottage for safety reasons.
Monthly Cottage Rentals
Guests who rent cottages by the month will provide their own linens and kitchen supplies.
Daily & Weekly Rentals
Dishes & Cookware
All dishes, cookware, and cutlery will have been washed and sanitized prior to your arrival. At your departure, please leave the dishes clean as it will help the cleaning staff in their sanitization process for the next guest. If dishes are found dirty in the cottage, $50 will be charged to your account.
Some cookware has been removed and is available upon request using a form supplied in your cottage:
- Teapot, cream and sugar bowls
- Small fruit bowls
- Small plates
- Glass wine glasses
- Plastic containers with lids
- Colander
Linens & Towels
All linens including sheets, towels, shower curtains, and bathmats are changed and laundered fresh for every guest’s arrival. Blankets will also be changed after each guest’s departure.
During Your Stay
The Office and other on site public spaces will have signage, spacing and adjusted occupancy. Staff will only enter a cottage if there is an emergency, and will wear protective equipment while there or if in close contact with guests.
No Contact Check-in & Check-out
Guests will pre-pay for their accommodation and check-in and check-out will be touchless. Guests who are familiar with the resort may proceed directly to their cottage. Guests who are unfamiliar with the resort will report to the Office where they will be directed to their cottage. All keys are sanitized between guests.
Shared Amenities
The Alders will be sanitizing outdoor picnic tables, BBQs, chairs, tables, swings and common surfaces and touch points daily. To decrease risk, we have closed or made changes to some of the amenities available on the resort:
- The Library and outdoor bathroom will be closed.
- Communal ball and toy bins have been removed.
- Ping pong table will be available but please supply your own paddles and balls.
- Games and books have been removed from Laundry Room.
- The Wednesday evening “weenie roast” at the campfire has been cancelled.
Laundry
The laundry room has a sign limiting occupancy to one guest/family at a time. Guests are asked to wipe down the laundry room before and after use with the provided supplies.
Physical Distancing
The Alders is adhering to physical distancing guidelines and expect our guests to follow all signage and do the same. Remember the 2 metre (6 foot) physical distance rule with people outside your “bubble” and what Dr. Bonnie Henry, Provincial Health Officer for the Province of BC, has mandated for people in your social circle.
Multi-Week Stays
Unfortunately, we will be unable to provide a ‘mini clean’ for multi-week guests as we’ve done in the past. A change of towels will be provided Saturday.
Before You Arrive
Check Travel Restrictions
We recommend that all guests keep apprised of travel restrictions in place by the Province of BC. Currently, if you or any members of your household have traveled outside Canada (including the USA), you will not be permitted to stay at The Alders. Please contact us if this will affect your stay.
Consider Bringing Your Own
Although we will make every effort to keep the resort safe, we encourage you to consider bringing protective supplies with you: masks, rubber gloves, nitrile gloves, disinfectant wipes, and hand sanitizer.
A reminder that our cottages and resort will be pared down in supplies and you may also want to bring extra blankets, your own sporting equipment like paddles and balls, and other items removed from your cottage for safety reasons.
Please note: Operating in this “new normal” means adjusting to frequent updates. The information above is subject to change based on recommendations and operating conditions.
